In Los Angeles to perform at the American Music Awards on Sunday (Nov. 19), Korean boy band BTS stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to surprise some fans -- and their mothers.

In a short segment on his late night show, Kimmel introduced BTS to his audience by drawing attention to their passionate fan ARMY, and then introduced some of those fans’ mothers to the band members.

The septet’s American ARMY came out in droves to support the band as they hosted a mini-concert that will be aired on Jimmy Kimmel Live! later this month. Pulling aside two mothers who accompanied their daughters to the performance, the showrunners had the moms video call their daughters, surprising them with the members of BTS standing right.

After the episode was aired, the hashtag "BTSxJimmyKimmel" trended worldwide for several hours. The show's official account shared several tweets about the taping, including a video showing Kimmel meeting the band.

The first Korean act to rank in the Billboard 200 with a Top 10 album and the highest-charting K-pop group to appear on the Hot 100, BTS has risen to global attention over the past few months as the most popular boy band of 2017. The Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance marks the K-pop act’s first U.S. late night show appearance, and precedes upcoming segments featuring the group on The Late Late Show with James Corden, The Ellen Degeneres Show, and the AMAs.

BTS’ performance will be aired on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Nov. 29.
