Nipsey Hussle's Murder Suspect Named After Stampede Breaks Out At Vigil

The Los Angeles Police Department has named the suspect in the shooting of Nipsey Hussle.

Late Monday (April 1), authorities released the name and photo of the 33-year-old rapper's suspected killer and issued a warrant for his arrest. "Eric Holder is wanted for Homicide in the shooting of Nipsey Hussle," the LAPD said in a statement shared to their Twitter. "He was last seen in a 2016 white 4 door Chevy Cruze CA license plate 7RJD742. Anyone with information related to his whereabouts or this deadly shooting is urged to contact South Bureau Homicide."

The LAPD's report came shortly after mass hysteria broke out outside Nipsey's clothing store where he was gunned down the day before and a memorial was being held in his honor by thousands of his fans. 19 people were reportedly injured and paramedics were on the scene after a loud noise sent people scrambling.

According to TMZ, the crowd suddenly broke into a panic and began to run from the area after people heard a loud noise that sounded like gunfire, causing a stampede. "Our men and women are on scene and making every effort to protect everyone in attendance at the Nipsey Hussle vigil. Reports of shots fired at the vigil do not appear to be accurate. We do have injured in the chaos and are attempting to restore order," the LAPD said in a statement following the stampede. "We understand the community is mourning and we feel your loss. We are asking for everyone to follow the officers directions and disperse from the immediate area."

As previously reported, Nipsey was fatally shot in front of his clothing store in Los Angeles Sunday (March 31).

The Crenshaw rapper and community leader was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital after paramedics performed CPR at the murder scene and during the ambulance ride, TMZ reports. On Monday, the L.A. County Medical Coroner announced that Nipsey died from gunshot wounds to his head and torso. Footage of the shooting was also released, showing the suspect, who was wearing a dark shirt, approach Nipsey and two of his associates by foot before firing off shots three different times. After shooting Nipsey multiple times, the suspect kicked his body and fled towards a back alley. The two other people who were shot survived.

Nipsey is survived by his two children and longtime girlfriend, Lauren London.
