The news releases cross our desks, such as this headline, "Is it hemp or marijuana?” A new handheld scanner can quickly determine the level of THC in cannabis plants. It’s a spectrometer developed by a team at Texas A&M Agrilife. Whoop-whoop.
Important in a state that has legalized hemp production even as it battles major illegal drug traffic. This Texas research is close to developing a fingerprint for hemp plants.
Pretty technical stuff; and then this from Rice University where a young computer science professor is devising a program for internet security. He’s been awarded a grant of more than a half-million dollars from the NSF for his Poise program.
