BTS now has the bestselling album of 2020.

According to Forbes, the South Korean septet’s new Japanese album, Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey, has become the bestselling album of the year in several countries, including the United States, Korea, Japan and worldwide.

Since arriving on July 14, Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey — which features the boy band performing Japanese versions of their songs from Love Yourself: Answer (2018), last year’s Map of the Soul: Persona and Map of the Soul: 7 (released February 2020) as well as four new Japanese-language tracks — has broken several records in just its first week of release. The effort sold 447,000 units in its first day alone before exceeding 500,000 copies in its second day. Per the outlet, the album also topped the Oricon Albums Chart for five consecutive days, selling 564,000 copies in its first week.

What’s more, the band’s previous 2020 project, Map of the Soul: 7, continues to rule much of the world, selling 552,000 copies in the United States since the day it released, surpassing The Weeknd’s After Hours (placing second with 407,000). BTS dominates in physical albums sold as well, with Map of the Soul: 7 bringing in 528,000 copies in the United States, besting runner-up Kenny Chesney’s Here and Now (219,000), by nearly double that amount.

The pop stars are dominating across the pond as well, having sold at least 4 million copies of Map of the Soul: 7 in their native South Korea alone, becoming the first record in the country’s history to bring in 4 million certified sales — the bestselling album of all-time. Considering you consolidate these numbers from around the world, Map of the Soul: 7 is the bestselling worldwide album of the year.

In related news, BTS will be performing at this year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival. Fans can tune in to watch the festival live on The CW App and CWTV.com on September 18 and 19 at 9pm ET/6pm PT, and relive all of the epic performances during a two-night Festival highlights special on September 27 and 28 from 8-10pm ET/PT.
