Miranda Lambert Launches Fund To Help Musicians Pay Pet Bills Amid Pandemic

Miranda Lambert is stepping up to help music industry members struggling to pay pet bills amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The country star's MuttNation nonprofit is partnering with the Waggle Foundation to form the MuttNation Fund, which offers financial aid to those in the community struggling to pay animal related bills.

Lambert and MuttNation are starting the fund with a generous matching grant donation, and plans to accept contributions from "caring people who are moved to help after reading the stories about the pet in need on the MuttNation Fund page," The Tennessean reports.

The "Bluebird" singer first had the idea earlier this year after her backup singer and close friend, Gwen Sebastian, faced "an unexpected major expense" when treating her dog for a liver disorder.

"So, it got me thinking that there must be a lot more people whose careers in the music industry have been on pause due to lack of live performance opportunities, and who are struggling with their pets’ vet bills," Lambert said in a statement. "Because music and mutts are my two passions, I knew I had to do something and thought that starting this fund would help both the music community that’s been so supportive of me, and their pets."

Anyone who is a member of the music community who has a dog or a cat with medical needs and has been impacted by the pandemic can apply for the relief fund, including music community members like musicians, singers, songwriters, engineers, producers, management, music venue staff and other music industry employees.
