K-pop singer AleXa became the first-ever winner of NBC's American Song Contest on Monday, May 9. The 25-year-old Korean-American singer competed against musicians from all 50 US states in the reality TV competition hosted by Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson. AleXa represented her home state of Oklahoma and took home the title for Best Original Song.

AleXa performed her winning pop song "Wonderland" in an elaborate live performance with costumes and choreography. The singer was proud to bring her pop music to the stage telling the Oklahoman, "Country music is definitely something Oklahoma is well known for, but there bands like The All-American Rejects and Hanson as well that came from Oklahoma. It’s so more than just country music, and I’m very proud to represent that."

In addition to winning the show, AleXa's song will be played in rotation on iHeartRadio stations across America. Tom Poleman, Chief Programming Officer & President, iHeartMedia, and member of the American Song Contest jury panel explained, "I think every artist remembers the first time they heard their song on the radio. Being played on the radio is ultimately what makes a song a hit because we reach so much of America and we play songs with high frequency."

AleXa first caught people's attention during her time on Mnet's 2018 reality competition show Produce 48. She then debuted under ZB label in 2019 with her single "Bomb," dropped her first EP "Do or Die" in early 2020, and released the single album 'ReviveR' in July 2021. Earlier this year, AleXa came back with an English-language single "Tattoo."

Throughout her time on American Song Contest AleXa received several shoutouts on social media from K-pop stars like PURPLE KISS, KARD's BM, MAMAOO, Moonbyul, and more.
