Deborah McCrary, Beloved Member Of The McCrary Sisters, Dies At 67

Deborah McCrary, beloved singer of The McCrary Sisters, has died. She was 67.

One of Deborah’s sisters, Alfreda McCrary, confirmed the news on social media, writing on Facebook: “My sister Deborah McCrary just got her wings! Gone but not forgotten! I thank God for her life she was our baby! We love you Deborah!” The heartfelt message was shared to The McCrary Sisters’ Facebook page, honoring one of the members of the soulful gospel group whose influences brought them “indescribable joy to singing.” The heartbreaking announcement prompted hundreds of messages on Alfreda’s post, each one offering condolences to the McCrary family. Fans of the vocal group offered prayers to the family and other comforting comments during a difficult time.

“It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our beloved sister Deborah,” Alfreda and her other bandmates and sisters, Ann and Regina, said in a press release on Thursday (June 2). Information about any services in Deborah’s honor have not been announced as of publication time.
